Part 1 of a 9-part CBS YouTube series begins at the exact time when President John F. Kennedy was being shot and killed by rifle bullets in Dallas, Texas (12:30 PM, Dallas time; 1:30 PM on the east coast of the United States).
The daytime soap opera "As The World Turns" was airing on CBS-TV when Walter Cronkite breaks in with the first voice-over bulletin of the shooting that had just taken place 10 minutes earlier in Dallas' Dealey Plaza.

DAMN...Mitch Mitchell, drummer for the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience and the group's last surviving member, was found dead in his hotel room early Wednesday. He was 61.

MONTREAL — A Quebec comedy duo from CKOI 96.9 FM in Montreal, Quebec,notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state has reached Sarah Palin, convincing the Republican vice-presidential nominee she was speaking with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
STUDS TERKEL DIES
Author-radio host-actor-activist and Chicago symbol Louis "Studs" Terkel died today at his Chicago home at age 96.
At his bedside was a copy of his latest book, "P.S. Further Thoughts From a Lifetime of Listening," scheduled for a November release.
Beset in recent years by a variety of ailments and the woes of age, which included being virtually deaf, Terkel's health took a turn for the worse when he suffered a fall in his home two weeks ago.
It is hard to imagine a fuller life. (MORE)
