MAJORITY DO NOT HAVE BROADBAND ACCESS


As I mentioned in an earlier posting, only 47% of All Americans have access to broadband internet connections. (1/26/07)
If your website doesn't work well for listeners using dial-up, you are writing-off over HALF of your audience. Not a good idea. Talk to your Tech people and make sure that Dial-up folks are not left out of your on-line community of listeners, especially the ability to listen to your stations audio stream.

Nearly half of all Americans now have high-speed Internet service at home, but the growth rate for "broadband" service is slowing sharply, and it's still uncommon among poor and rural residents, according to a new study.

About 47 percent of adult Americans surveyed by the nonprofit Pew Internet & American Life Project said they have high-speed Internet service at home, up from next to nothing at the start of the decade. (Whole Article)

• White non-Hispanics: 48 %
• African Americans: 40 %
• Latinos: 29 %
• Rural residents: 31 %
• Suburban residents: 49 %
• Urban residents: 52 %
• Incomes above $75,000: 76 %
• Incomes between $50,000-$75,000: 58 %
• Incomes between $30,000-$50,000: 46 %
• Incomes below $30,000: 30 %
